Wrecked the WIFE'S Pathy

Postby daxnizmo » Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:33 am

Well, I wrecked the wife's Pathfinder. Went to get in the turning lane and didn't see this girl driving down the turning lane (illegally) and we had a little crash. Lets's not forget I spun a rod bearing in my Z a couple weeks a go, what a month so far!

Will need a new bumper, headlight has a nasty scuff that should buff out , fog light, fender has a small dent/scuff, the grill is busted but may not need replacing. The steering wheel is out of whack now too. Looks like I'm turning left while going straight. :(

Anyone want to guess at the amount the damage estimate is?

Did she get a citation? I don't know what the law is there, but in AZ if you travel over 100 feet in a left turn lane, the police can cite you.

No citations were given. He said I was in the wrong for not yielding to traffic and she was wrong for driving down the turn lane. Guess he felt 2 wrongs canceled each other out?

Damage is $1,700

Sorry to hear about the accident, but $1700... I figred it would be 3-4 times that. We are getting raped in Canada for collision. I scratched the back bumper of mine, like, you can barely see it, and was quoted $662.55. That faint grey mark is the scratch

Sounds about right really. They were likely going to respray the entire bumper cover and it's pretty much $500 just to crack a can of paint. I've spent $600 to respray the bumper cover on my wifes Odyssey which seems to be a magnet for people that can't drive.

$1,700 sounds about right for the above too. Figure $500 for the bumper cover, $200 for headlamp, $800-$900 for paint/body work and an alignment.

It sounds about right , I hit a wild turkey - going fairly hard. Bumper, grill fog light, inner wing liner, front inner mounting bracket and associated clips and covers.
Black paint $1450 Canadian

I now have a nice bull bar on the front - just in case

Could have been worse -- a Moose.

As Forrest Gump says -- shit happens

Make sure the shop that's going to do the repair is going to use Nissan parts to fix your vehicle. There's a 90% chance that your insurance company is going to try and use reconditioned or after market parts.

Bump-asaurus wrecks.

Been a while but just as i thought this situation was done with....I got served! I actually got served/sued 3 weeks before Christmas. The passenger of the other vehicle sued me AND the other driver! What i was sued for was medical bills, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, and my favorite......loss of ability to enjoy life as he did prior to the accident. WTF. So by the time I got my papers, he had already settled for $11,000. That's just from ME (my insurance company), so not sure what he got from the other driver. It really pissed my wife off too. The damage on the Pathy was a lot worse than theirs. Ughh, people are so "sue happy" nowadays.
