odd noise

I have a 13pf.19k miles.ive noticed,backing out of my driveway,wheels turned,rolling slowly if i pull into neutral before i stop,i hear a unpleasant grumbling noise from under the car.i do stop completely before goin into drive.im a bit worried.anyone ever notice this?.i have seen in the manual,it says to never coast along in neutral.that sounds odd as well.must be a cvt thing.
