Premium Gas?

Specs. say it needs premium gas. Anyone with a 2013 that can tell me if that is true?
The mileage increase (over my current SUV) is negated when you're spending $0.20 more a gallon...

Are you sure it says "needs" or "requires" premium fuel, or does it say something a long the lines of "For maximum performance, use premium fuel." That is what they used on the R51 Pathfinders. VQ-series engines usually run perfectly fine on regular unleaded, but seem people do comment they notice slightly more power on premium fuel. I've used both on my VQ40DE and noticed no real difference in performance nor mileage, so I stick with regular unleaded.

According to the owners Manual on my 2013 it says Regular:
FUEL RECOMMENDATION
Use unleaded regular gasoline with an octane
rating of at least 87 AKI (Anti-Knock Index) number
(Research octane number 91).

Agreed. The Infiniti takes premium. The Nissan takes regular.

^^+1 on this......I use premium in mine and also in my Pathy. Xterra gets regular.

I know this is digging up an old topic but the AKI number seems to differ from the Octane number. The owners manual on my 2014 states the same as above...and where I am I have 3 choices of octane:
87 Regular
89 Mid grade
93 Premium
The manual calls out minimum 91 octane...therefor I use Premium.

What's listed on the gas pumps in the US and Canada is AKI, or, "anti knock index." It's a combination of Research Octane Number and Motor Octane Number. In many other countries, like most of Europe, the number posted on the gas pumps is the Research Octane Number.
