I have a 2014 Pathfinder SL with about 43K miles.

Yesterday we got hit with 16" of snow. I park my car outside so I had to scrape a lot of snow off the roof, body, etc.

Today coming back from lunch, I turned on my windshield wipers to get some snow sliding off the roof. The problem is, I couldn't turn it off. The wipers wouldn't turn off no matter what I did.

At the stop light, I turned off the car. The wiper was still going. So I turned on the car and drove back to work. I parked, turned of the engine and it still was going. WTF. I started to remove some of the snow chunks and ice from the windshield with my hands. Then it stopped.

Any explanation for this?

Is it back to normal now (or are you afraid to try it? ) Could be a short in the wiper switch.

Yeah. It turns off now. What I did was clear the ice chunks and snow from the front. As I said, we had tons of snow Monday. But why would ice chunks cause the wiper to keep going and cannot be turned off even when the engine is off?

"Could be" a number of things. Without the ability do duplicate the problem, there is no way to diagnose it. Hopefully it was just a one-time thing. The wipers are controlled by the body control module based on input from the wiper switch. If one had a scan tool capable of reading BCM codes, it would be worth checking, but most people don't have one at their disposal.
