Steering wheel dimple on top???

Hi,
I just picked up a 2014 SL. Noticed on drive home that at the 12'o clock position of the steering wheel, there is a "dimple" at the top.
Wondering if this is a normal feature? I fail to see why.
When I turn the wheel and the let the steering straighten out by itself, I can feel the dimpled part moving across my hand as the steering wheel returns...
