For the first time I drove aP athfinder of this generation the 2013-2020 generation also known as the R52.
I must say I am really impressed.
It's a 2020 SL with 46000 miles on it, a rental.
And the onroad handling/braking is just outstanding.
The CVT shifts great too!

No wonder the R52 folks are also loyal to their steeds!

It's a lot cushier ride, I'm sure for you truck guys, but I wouldn't ask it to do any off-road chores.

And the seats are so comfortable!
Definitely a fantastic tool for long range travel!

Why? I think it is suitable for long-distance travel and am intending to buy it to serve my camping hobby. Does it really suit my needs?

The R52 can certainly handle light off road.

Agree, long-distance trips are great. Pulling a travel trailer, again great (as long as you don't overload it). Due to low ground clearance, no kick plate and lack of full-time all-wheel-drive, not great for off-roading.

And if you tow anything heavier than a bicycle (not a bicycle trailer, a bicycle), change the CVT fluid frequently. I recommend 15~20K to my towing customers. Towing puts unique loads on the CVT belt which eat the fluid up in a big hurry.

But you also told us how strong the CVY is in all post 2017 Pathfinders.
Yes we get the frequent fluid change but lets not put too negative a spin on what this man likes.
I do not wish to discourage people from buying an excellent choice because of enthusiast proclivities.

Not discouraging anything, but anyone who tows with a CVT must respect that it has special needs. No matter how strong the mechanism (and the later R52's are very strong), it's still totally dependent on fluid quality to keep the metal off the metal, just like any CVT.
