Looks like the Nissan version of the Infiniti JX... Some nice luxury upgrades, but I don't see any towing options, especially with a CVT and all-wheel drive.

So, it will be at the Detroit auto show in a week. Then we'll finally know. It just bugs the shit out of me when people write "certainly more handsome than what's currently on offer." I guess that would be true, if one is female.

I can't wait to finally see what it's going to look like. Right now I absolutely hate all the images of the possible new look for it... especially the crossover-like ones. @NVSteve I don't think anything will be more handsome than my '05... and I am female :D

 You know when I was originally writing my response to this, I had to check myself a few times about the "female" comment, but couldn't think of any female members. Sorry. Let me amend my comments with "no disrespect intended to any of our female forum readers."

As to the author of the article stating how "handsome" the new Pathfinder seems to be, I still fail to see how one could use that word knowing what the previous (current) model looks like. Does that make our R51 model a "crusty brute" in comparison? I just really have to question a man making such a statement about what is bound to be a clone of the already overblown soccer mom-mobile crossover market. I guess there is still a slim chance that all of the spy shots & previous rumors were false, but I'm not counting on it.

Haha I got ya. Yeah I completely agree; I never want to see the Pathfinder turn into a crossover... (I have only had 3 "pathys" throughout the years) and it's disappointing to think that it might no longer be an SUV. Guess I might have to stick with buying a used one if the 2013 is going to be anything like the pictures I have seen. Oh well...

Does not look like anything you would want to take off road.

I wonder if it will keep its towing capabilities of 6000Lbs.

Yes, for a CAR. One of the reports said that it will still be able to 4x4 through the muck, which makes me wonder if it might have adjustable suspension. I'm still holding off writing the Pathfinder completely off the list until I can see more pics and, more importantly, specs. The engine MUST be different. While I absolutely love the engine in the R51, it will not compete for the mpg crown.

In my readings I found that Nissan will be using the 3.5l as the base engine and that will allow them to achieve those MPG figures. Open was the question about the V8 or a more powerful version of the 4.0L V6.
