I'm new to the Nissan world

Had a guy tell me today that the older 3.0L had a issue with spining crank bearings and I should add and xtra qt to bump up the pressure ?????

I know back in the early 90's Yamaha FZR 1000 motors had the same issue and Team Yamaha (super bike team) added an xtra .5 qt and the issue went away

So I can see the reason but is this true with a 95 3.0L

I could spend hrs researching this but wanting to change my oil tonight for a road trip in the morning

I worked for Nissan as a tech from '85 to '03 and never knew spun bearings being a big issue on stock VG30 engines. I've heard of some cases on the internet, but I don't know the specifics of their maintenance nor under what circumstances those failures occured. One of the issues the VG30's had was tapping hydraulic lifters as they got up in miles. Another issue occured in 95/96 when Nissan eliminated some oil ports for lubrications and they developed a tapping/knocking noise from the middle pistons on either or both banks. A lot of those engine blocks were exchanged under warranty. One thing you don't want to do is overfill the engine too much as the crank fillets will whip the oil and aerate it. A lot of those VG30's in the trucks only spec'd a capacity of 3.5 qts., although many would fill them with 4 quarts during an oil change. I don't think an extra 1/2 quart is going to make any differance, but a full quart is a bit much, IMO.

Oil unknow when I got Sally but it had a motorcraft filter. But put some full syn Valvoline/Pulator pure one in her and I can just feel her running smoother on the highway

Motorcraft filters are good; they're made by Purolator.
