2004 Pathfinder LE Platinum - I NEED NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER

I bought the car 9/1/15, and two weeks and three days later, the engine light came on, and I tripped the 1st bank catalytic converter code. I brought it back to the dealership and they said I need a new catalytic converter, I haven't even gotten the plates yet.

The estimate is $850 for the OEM part!!! I just bought it, so I can't really afford that much at the moment. The non-OEM part is $450, which is still pretty expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a new or used catalytic converter for a 2004 Pathfinder?

Thanks in advance!

You can find a Magnaflow universal fit on Amazon for $136 and have a exhaust shop install it for you.

I would stay away from used.

It's not legal to sell used catalytic converters for use on vehicles unless they have been emission certified. If you live in California or a state which complies to California emission standards, your only choice may be a genuine Nissan converter. If you don't live in such a state, you can get direct fit, aftermarket converters from sourced such as Rockauto, com. I wouldn't recommend the universal converter in place of an upstream converter on an 04 Pathy. They'd have to do a lot of "rigging" to get that to work and fit properly.

Look on Ebay. Direct fit 120.00 and up. Both sides for less than 250.00.
Direct fit with a 5 year warrantee. Magnaflow makes a nice stainless bodied unit if you're going to keep the car.
