AM RADIO STATIC ?

Howdee folks, Mabey You can help me I have a 99 Path and it has a serious AM radio buzz - static when listening to AM spoirts radio this happens only when I am driving out in the country side many miles from the big city radio station transmitter ?
Now my buddy has a Toytota pickuip and a Toyota Van and both of them do not have this static buzz when we are way out in the same remote country side.
The static - buzz is intermitant, it does have a rpm related up and down sound to it like an alternator so I put a capacitor in line with the alternator and static - buzz is still there ?
My only idea is that it is jusat the quality of the radio or I mite have a loose or broken antenna connection ?
Your advice would be helpful ?
