97 Pathfinder 130k

Been getting a surging in the RPM at low to normal acceleration
If you watch the tach it will rise, stop, rise and so on under access
Its very subtle but super annoying

Everything on the motor has been replaced within the year. Full tune up, Timing belt, etc. i have no vacuum or intake leaks.

The only thing i can think of is to play with the distributor.
Should i go that route??? Help please

How's the transmission? Does it feel like it's slipping or doggish during those RPM rises?

The transmission seems great

I did check the MAF. it was pretty scummy. I cleaned it with spray and it defiantly helped a lot. Its still there but you gotta be really watching for it. Its livable now

Ok. Guess what I meant is that if the vehicle feels like it's surging with the RPMs, then it's probably more engine-related. But if the RPMs are climbing and nothing's happening, something's slipping.

Suppose it wouldn't hurt to give the intake a cleaning and go from there. I had some idling issues last year that also seemed to benefit from a TB and MAF cleaning. I didn't have any RPM issues while driving, though.
