The Nissan Path

I have a 97 pathfinder and I've recently noticed it start to wobble when hitting uneven surfaces. I replaced the shocks and struts since one shock was blown out. After going for a drive it still has a sway, like it's floating at times, when I hit bumps at medium to higher speeds. What else might it be?

is it more at highway speeds? feels like unstable steering? happens without any noises?

check the rear links/trailing arms, esp the uppers - look at the bushing ends

the upper and lower arms do have a little wiggle to them, bushings look worn. You think bushings could be my problem?

sounds like a likely culprit. hard to say without actually seeing your truck, but i replace them for your described concern all the time. If you're going to try it yourself, you may need to cut some bolts. Do all 4 bars and bolts while you're at it. Move the dampeners (weights) to the new bars. Hope that helps!

I wouldn't go bushing, i'd do the whole arm with bushings in. It's more $$, but it's less headache. (the job is kinda a pain already anyway). Which ever you decide, grab some hardware too, cause you'll likely end up cutting a bolt or two (the one by the fuel tank is usually stubborn), and the 10mm nut holdiing the e-brake cable will snap as soon as you look at it. The axle asmb will shift, so you'll need to jack/pry things into place to get things to line up. This is one of those hammer and pry bar type jobs for sure. Good luck

The bushings are definatly the cause. We always replace all five arms. The upper two, lower two, and the panhard or traction bar. I just purchased my very first 97 pathy and have this problem also, here are the part numbers that i replaced. (note, i did not do the panhard bar in this job)
