The Nissan Path

I'm currently in the market for my first vehicle and I found a 1997 Nissan pathfinder, for sale at a dealership here in my city for $4,595.00 went and talked to the guy and after pointing out what was wrong with it I made an offer for 3,800.00 in which he came back with 3,900.00 and i replace the windshield.

Pros:
It Has bran new all season tires, an auto starter, an alarm system, pl,pw, etc

Cons: It does have rust spots on it but there no bigger then a dime, It has 254,008 kilometers, But id be the vehicles third owner so I guess its not that bad really, and it needs a new windshield and the entire console box has come off and needs to be repaired or screwed back on or glued back on as well as the selector leaver is kinda loose and needs to be tightened to keep if from "wiggling" while in use.

Basically I'm asking since this forums is all about Nissan pathfinders if this seems like a good deal?

Doesn't seem unreasonable. I assume it runs fine, otherwise you would have mentioned it. Pretty high mileage, but if you take care of the vehicle it will live a long time. Pricing should depend somewhat on the trim (XE, SE, LE). Have you looked up the Blue Book value?

Now as dumb as this is gonna sound I'm not sure what you mean by trim? like XE, SE, LE. no idea what you mean by those.

No problem, it just means what "accessories" the vehicle comes with. All models have air conditioning, for example. However, the XE (base model) doesn't have a roof rack, while the SE and LE do. The LE has leather seats, while the XE and SE do not. You can get an idea of the trim differences at kbb.com. Just select the year, make, and model, then Private Party Value, then select a trim. It will exhibit a checklist with the different standard equipment. If anything has been added, be sure to check the box so it gets figured into the price.

Is it a "good deal"? With the information you've provided I'd have to say no way. My assessment would be that it's a bit on the high side. IMO a "fair" price would be more like $3K to $3200....anything under THAT might be a "good deal"...but being as it's a dealer he's gotta make money so you likely won't get the price in a range that's a "good deal" for you. First thing you need to do..as suggested above is find the blue book value.

I have a '97 SE loaded with basically EVERY option..leather, Bose stereo, etc etc etc... and I am orig owner with about 140K miles. pretty much in EXCELLENT condition and I think blue book is around $4K maybe a bit less.
