The Nissan Path

2001 3.5L Pathfinder, Turn key three four five times and then will start. Does NOT click. Does not do it all the time. Is it starter, solenoid, ignition starter switch? Is solenoid on starter a separate part like on some cars? I drive BMW's so I do not have these problems (kidding just $$$ problems)
