Sometimes it's a little hard to get the pathfinder into 4WD Low. It grinds just a little when it goes into gear. Is this normal for you guys as well or is it signs of something wearing out. It's got a 160000kms and in great shape.
Thanks

It's an automatic.
The fluids were all changed a few months ago. (front and rear diff, and transmission). They have been checked for correct fluid qty.

Automatic or not, there is fluid that needs to be changed in your transfer case. Most probably, judging by your answer, it has never been changed...
Have a look..

Thanks for pointing that out.
I almost had a heart attack. Just looked through the service manual and I now remember changing the transfer case as well. Don't know how I forgot about that, it was a pain with the hand pump that i used to fill the fluid.
Any other ideas? It's not severely grinding or anything, just doesn't go in smoothly sometimes.

I have the same issue since I got my 2000 3.3 Pathfinder with 65.000 on it. I just make it quickly and even that it sounds a little, it had never failed.
Any comments?

I asked a friend a he told me that is normal. Well, as I thought that since I got my Path I never worried about... May be I have to check it!!!
