The Nissan Path

My father in law's 97 pathfinder v-6 starts, but intermintantly quits. and once it stops, it won't start back until it is completely cooled down.

I tried searching the forum, but did not find anything. I'm looking for some place to start for a diagnosis. any help would be much appreciated.

Too late for you. But for others - water temp sensor did that on a Honda. Would quit when coming to a stop (idle) when warm. Put in water with a thermometer and ohmmeter to test.

could be a crankshaft position sensor. Had the same symptoms on my old passat.
