Hi,

I just bought a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder and checked the fluid levels. If found the engine oil as well as the automatic transmission fluid levels to be too high. Not sure how much, but the dipsticks jus show that it is overfilled.

Do you recommend to let fluid out or can I just leave it like this without damaging the car?

I live now in Kazakhstan (no I am not Borat  ) and do not have any tools nor garage, dont't know how to get rd of the excess fluid etc., otherwise I would do it straigt away

Thanks for any advice`

Cheers Juerg

let each drain for about 5 seconds and put the drain plug back in. then check the levels again, it will be messy with fluid trying to escape. good luck

I actually just checked my atf to find it was quite high after it was changed about 2 weeks ago, but I didn't think it hurt anything. Anyway, I just put it in 4 wheel drive and drove it up onto some 2 x 10's I had around. After crawling under, I undid the bolt and waited a second, checked the level at the dipstick, and kept draining until it was at the right level.

Thanks, will try this weekend!
