1997 Pathfinder heated leather seats

I own a mint 1997 nissan pathfinder se,which has worked very well, but the heat output from the heated leather seats has reduced over time.
I'm suspecting that nissan uses a "heated pad" under the base of the seats.
Has anyone had experience changing these?
Was concerned about cost of the pads and level of difficulty to replace.
If it has a simple plug in harness, and a person could remove a few upholstery rings on the underside of the seats it may be an easy replacement?
Other than normal maintenance/timing belt it has been a very dependable SUV.
