2001 Pathfinder bumper grill.

Hello all, new to the forum.
I own a 2001 Pathfinder, the car was wrecked last year in a slight fender bender and I'm just now getting around to replacing the bumper grill on the passenger side. I received the replacement yesterday.
I can't get the sucker in there! It seems like it's too tall to fit with the clips, it's the same size as the drivers side. I've tried doing every side in first on an angle, all at once and all the different combinations imaginable. I can get it close, but the bottom still hangs out an inch, nor is it securced.
Is there a trick to doing this?
