I bought my 96 Pathy a few months ago as kind of a project. The po replaced the factory stereo with an after market and also cut the stock wire harness plug off.I have been trying to figure out if it was bose or not.I took the rear side panels off and found an amp in the drivers side. Its a Clarion EN-1034N model#.

My question is is the Bose the only one that has the amp?

also did the Bose system have some with casette and some with casette and cd player. If so how would I know which one my Pathy had.

Next, is the Bose stereo worth paying the $125 and up price for a used one to keep from having to mess around getting an aftermarket to work with the stock wiring

Last question.I know you can buy a harness to bypass the amp.Is it possible to use the factory amp with an aftermarket head unit.

tia for answering my questions.

The older 96 and below Pathfinders used the factory clarion amps. The newer ones use the Bose amps.
