2001 Pathfinder starting problems

All this started 2 months ago. I have a 2001 pathfinder, 3.5 4wd. When the truck is cool, it will start no problem. But after I drive it for any more than 10 minutes or so and shut it off, it wont fire. It will crank, but not fire. I have replaced the battery (just because it needed it) both terminals and both cam position sensors. It worked fine for about a week, then right back to the same thing, any suggestions?? Thanks

That sounds more like a faulty crank position sensor issue. Have you checked for trouble codes? Checked for spark during the no-start issue?

yeah, we checked the codes, threw up cam position sensor and a few others for short or open circuit. Waiting for the next time it does it, then gonna shoot some starting fluid in it and see if it fired to determine if its spark or fuel. I personally think its spark, but I am not a mechanic, just a machinist

You can use carb cleaner instead of starting fluid. It'll work just as well for that purpose and is a lot less volatile. I've also heard of a number of problems with aftermarket cam and crank sensors, so use genuine Nissan, if possible.

well, too late on the cam sensors, put them in on sunday. But I will keep that in mind for the crank sensor. Thanks for the advise

these engines are pretty sensitive and picky on parts. same thing goes for ignition coils if they go out. keep it the oem nissan or if you can source out the hitachi units what nissan usually use on their ignition parts.
