98 4 wheel drive, V6. Has 172K miles. Recently, I have noticed after it sits a while, when you push in clutch it hangs halfway up or is real soggy and goes to the floor. What part is going out? Master or slave or do I just need a good flushing. Any info out there on how to do any of this?

sounds like leaking master cylinder to me. Un-bolt the master cylinder (leave the line connected), and look to see if there is any fluid leaking. Or just look at the back of it from underneath the dash.

Air in the system can be caused by either. Slave failure is far more common the master, so check for leaks at both. Personally, on my own vehicles, I'd replace both as when one fails, the other is likely not that far off. Do it once and be done with it!

If you don't find a leak check the assist spring under the dash on the clutch pedal. Springs do break occasionally and would explain the pedal hanging up halfway up.

Another issue I've seen is sometimes the ball pivot will wear through the clutch release fork under the trans bellhousing.
