100% agree but I don't think anyone will know what you are talking about if you call it an "intake pipe with less restrictions in it" or a IPWLRII. Say "cold air intake" or CAI and everyone knows what you are talking about.

"CAI" is still a misnomer for anything that sucks air from the engine box. If you need a word, K&N blurbs their own filters as being "low restriction" and everyone understands the concept of a "cone filter". To toss around the term "CAI" when it's actually an HAI does a major disservice to outfits like AEM who make actual CAI's and not junk that sounds like it's doing something.

That looks pretty clean. What all did you have to do in order to get the box and tube to fit?

Also, I see you went with the LS throttle body upgrade. Any issues with cold starting? I have heard some experience hesitation after the upgrade with getting the engine to initially fire during cold starting.
Sorry for the delay. Indeed I did. It wants to stall on a cold start is the only issue. I fire it up and have my foot/hand ready to give it a few quick taps and it places itself. I was told I to drill a small hole to resolve that issue. I actually have a 2nd TB and might experiment with it on that one.

I also have the cold start issue after doing the R8 coils. The problem mostly wasn't in the summer and then went away after I installed my solar panel, but once winter came it came back, for obvious reasons. Then my Optima Yellow Top decided to show it wasn't healthy then the temps dropped, just 6 months outside of warranty. i then went with an Odessey Extreme that also had an extra 100CCA over the D34 and even in the coldest of temps I've been surprised at how often it'll fire on the first try.

You've probably heard by now, VF Tuner is now available for us too. Just came out this past weekend.

FYI, Z1 off-road offers a larger throttle body for the VQ40DE that is pretty much plug-n-play and do an idle air volume relearn. My experience with the VQ40DE is that unless you plan on drag racing your SUV, you are really not going to see much performance gain that makes the investment in labor and parts worthwhile in the practical sense for a daily driver. These vehicles are heavy and if you want any "real" performance improvement, you need to go pretty far in your investment. Finding a Stillen supercharger kit would be one way, but they were $5K when they "were" available and as hard to find as hen's teeth these days. The factory intake air box is a "cold air intake" and is actually pretty good in design. I've had both a Volant CAI and an aFe Momentum GT CAI on my 2006 R51 and it made practically no difference. The same goes for the exhaust mods, which included DT shorty headers and mid-pipes with a Magnaflo 12580 muffler. An XTP plenum spacer did seem to make more power in the mid-range and a Superchips Flashpaq tuner with a 91-octane tune and 3-degree bump in timing advance also made a noticeable difference. And while with all of those mods put together did make a "notable" improvement in performance, it was expensive and labor intensive and in real world driving, didn't make much difference other than the sound of the exhaust. I gained 1-second in both my 0-60 MPH time as well as my 1/4-mile time. How much does that 1-second mean in a daily driver? For me: not much and not worth it. Also, it came with some annoying exhaust drone during light and medium acceleration. Some might like it, but I didn't care for it. The best part about it was that the plenum spacer made replacing ignition coils and spark plugs a lot easier!

I honestly want it for that reason alone. That being said, I am too cheap to pay $250 or whatever it is right now to get that benefit. Then again, I lifted mine and put the biggest tires on I could fit and killed its MPG so doubt any half measures would cause any noticeable performance improvements. ... Still I would do it all over again maybe with the patience to find the OEM larger rims for a better deal as the aftermarket ones (while nice) were about $1300.
