Squeaking Hood

Postby bigbro9395 » Sat Nov 21, 2009 7:59 pm

I have a 2008 Pathfinder with only 11000 miles, purchased September 2008. Occasionally, when going over rapid, multiple bumps, the hood starts making the most annoying squeaking sound. I took the car in to the THIEVING MORONS at the Nissan dealership, and they weren't able to find a solution. I was able to pop the hood and adjust the ribbed rubber stops on both sides of the hood. It seems to be a little better now, but I still hear that damn squeaking sound!!!! Anybody else encounter this issue? If so, how could this be fixed??? I had the same problem with my 03 Maxima. Thanks.

Maybe the bolts for the hood hinge need to be tightened?

adjust the rubbers under the hood and spray a little silicone on them.

same problem.

put grease where the hood locks in place,

problem will go away for a few months until it gets dusty enough to start squeaking again.

avoid washing it when washing the car.

squeaky hood

Postby stmack2007 » Wed Dec 16, 2009 11:59 pm

problem solved thanks mars1..i sprayed some jiggaloo lube on the hood latch....its been 3 days and no squeak....my hood had a slight shake to it at highway speeds so i adjusted the rubbert tabs at each corner of the hood down a few turns so they supported the hood corners better...now all is well

I had a sqeak coming from the hood of my 06 XTerra, Placed some electrical tape around the latch on the hood, sqeak gone. Did the same on my 08 Pathfinder, sqeak gone. Actually the hood feels like it latches better with the tape wrapped around the hook.
