VDC and Slip light on after battery disconnected

Postby 2006R51MD » Sat Mar 06, 2010 4:40 pm

I disconnected the battery to replace some headlight bulbs, now it looks like my VDC and Slip light are on.

Any idea why?

Thanks!

Books says to drive for a few miles and the light will go out. Mine has randomly come on...usually seems to be when pulling in/out of a steep drive and it stays on until I restart and drive a few miles. Weird.

Pushing the button did nothing of course.

I drove for about 100 feet and the light went off and has remained off. I did see in the manual where its said to dive over 10 miles per hour for 10 miles or something like that - kinda stupid!

Thanks for the input!

Your brake fluid may be low. Check it and top it off.

Its because the Steering Angle Sensor needs to be reset. VDC uses many inputs to work including steering angle. Disconnect your battery and the sensor looses its 0deg point which is straight. It will relearn itself but in order to do so the vehicle has to be driven straight and the wheel can not be turned for several minutes. So find a long straight road. We at the dealer can reset this sensor with our scanner in minutes. Next time leave battery connected, its just head lights.
