Center console clip/latch replacement

Postby Spamcan » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:36 pm

OK, so my dog jumped seats and landed on the center console and somehow broke the clip that locks/latches the console lid closed. I've looked on Courtesy Nissan's parts and can't find just the clip:

Can anyone offer what the part # would be ('05 Pathy SE 4x4) with the tan interior?

Also, how to replace it?

Thanks!!

Call your local dealer and they should be able to look it up. There are 4 colours to choose from, AFAIK.

To replace it, is really simple. All you need is a philips screwdriver. Remove the lid from the console and then the rest of the screws.

Called the dealer, need to buy the WHOLE LID - $175 local dealer, $137 from Courtesy. Frakking dog...wearing out her welcome. Anyone have any other ideas? There's no fixing the latch...

Your dealer is either wanting to rip you off or they dont know any better. You dont have to replace the whole lid, that is the old fix. Nissan has a bulletin out on this and the latch is available seperately. You can also get it from the link below for under $20

http://www.courtesyparts.com/latch-cons-p-503536.html

At courtesyparts.com the latch is not listed with the console, you have to search under the "Popular Parts" catagory.

There are several topics here in the R51 forum about the latch. Do a search for "latch" and see what comes up.

So the dealer is willing to order it for me...for $24. But it's back-ordered with no known date. So, just gonna order from Courtesy or Fontana.

I was looking at my broken part and the pic of the replacement on Courtesy's site. They look WAY different. For those that have changed this - is this correct? Is it just a total re-design? Just wanna make sure before buying the wrong one...

$24?!?!?! When I enquired a replacement for mine, I was VERY SURE he quoted me $14. I decided not to as I felt it wasn't worth the money.

I had part numbers for the various colours, but threw them out.

Yea, they wanted $28 for the latch (special order), but I had a coupon. Instead I just ordered from Fontana Nissan for $16. Hopefully it's the right part. The TSB shows part # 96927-EA102 for color code "C" (Cafe Latte - or "tan") part which is my interior color code, and -EA100 for color code K and T (Graphite, Blue/Graphite). But on Courtesy's website the colors are reversed to the part #'s. Fontana's site doesn't give the color codes, but I called them and they say -EA102 is tan.

I just looked back at the link that I provided in the other topic you posted in before this one, and they definitely changed the picture. The one that I bought was very simple. I don't know whether they redesigned the part or just put the wrong picture in there. I understand your confusion, now.

OK, good. So it's not just me...
Well, I'll know soon enough when the part comes in if it's changed and/or if it fits.

same issue here. bumping the thread.
I have a 2008 Pathy, trim code C.

part SKU: 96927-EA100 looks similar to mine but not exactly the same ( correct picture on the website ?). It is listed for 2005-2006. Will it work ?

thanks

I don't know if the V8 Pathy's are different in the interior. But for mine, color trim code "C" is the tan. I ordered the 96927-EA102 and although it looked wrong on the website, I did get the tan one and worked out great. If unsure, call to make sure before ordering. Fontana priced me the same whether ordering online or over the phone.

I don't have a pic of my actual latch, but the one in the Courtesy link above (and here) is pretty much it, just in the tan "C" color. I did confirm I ordered 96927-EA102 on my receipt from Fontana, for $16.10.
