How do I adjust headlights?

Postby Mr Mayor » Fri Jun 20, 2008 10:23 am

My 2008 front bumper was replaced not too long ago, and noticed that my headlights are waaaaaay off last night, pointing to MAYBE 30' in front of me at best...

Is it the little bolt behind the headlight with the funny lookin gear on it?

You got it. Clockwise for up, counter-clockwise for down IIRC. I found it interesting that the owners manual nor service manual included any procedure on adjusting the lights. They only referenced "taking it to a dealer" essentially.

Maybe I have a different version of the service manual, but section LT pages 23 & 24 go into considerable detail on how to aim the headlights. Only vertical adjustment is allowed, apparently due to government regulations. LT-58 describes fog light aiming.

According to the manual, this is the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder Maintenance and Repair Manual, Edition: September 2006, Revision: September 2006, Publication No. SM7E-1R51U0. I forget where I got it from, but I think I followed a link published elsewhere on this forum

Nope, looks like I was just mental. Its in the 06 LT section also. I must not have looked in the Lighting section for some reason but found in another section that it recommends going to a dealer.

Wait 'till you get to my age. It's a good day when you arrive at work wearing pants!
