Oil Sample Results

Postby skinny2 » Mon Jan 05, 2015 7:57 pm

Thought some of you might like to see an oil sample for our motors. I don't think I've seen one posted here before but the link below will take you to my latest. This was a 9,500 mile interval on NAPA Synthetic which is allegedly the same as Valvoline. I've historically used Mobil 1 but have occasionally used this NAPA oil due to the terrific deal (usually sub $20 with a filter). Either way, it seems to hold up very well and they recommended going 11k next time, but I'll be keeping it around 10k.

Blackstone apparently lost my previous samples since they mention that this is my first sample and didn't report my previous ones. This was actually the third sample I've run on the PF, all with very similar results. The first was around 50k miles at a 7,500 interval on Mobil 1. Second was at 80k using Mobil 1 at a 10k interval, and this one at 125k. I mainly do the samples to check for any potential issues with the engine. I was actually expecting this one to be a bit less impressive given the cheaper oil and the fact the engine is getting on in age.

Real good results there skiny2 your wear numbers look great esp considering that the Napa synthetic is a low cost synthetic not that that's a bad thing. I run cheep synthetic Shell Full Synthetic in my 2012 Pathy I have not sent an oil sample in yet on this truck although I sent many in on my old Toyota 4Runner and all reports were great running low cost synthetic oil up to 8,500 miles in my case.
