Front License Plate

Postby skinny2 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 7:49 am

I bought my Pathfinder in a state that doesn't require a front plate. So I need to get my Ohio plate on there so the cops will leave me alone. Is there a factory plate mount available or do you just have to run screws through the bumper cover?

there is a factory plate mount that ordinarily comes with the R51
they are inexpensive
you can look at the expanded parts view & purchase from:
www.courtesyparts.com

There must be more than one, cuz my dealer quoted me $60 CAD for the bracket. Thats not super expensive, but not cheap either...

it appears that there are two different OEM plate holders available
which one you need depends on the year of the vehicle
either one is less than $10.00 USD
take a look @ Courtesy's website!
they have a great OEM parts catalog
it's amazing how much these prices can vary from dealer to dealer
with the right approach, your local dealer may match an internet price

Yes, thanks for the link. I searched some other online Nissan parts sites and couldn't find the bracket. Bought some oil pan crush washers while I was there. Shipping is a little high but still better than driving an hour to the dealer!

you're welcome!
did you order the attaching hardware that you will need also?
i don't mind paying for shipping any more. when you take into consideration the time, fuel, wear & tear, aggravation factor............

Yeah thanks. Should be in good shape.

Oil filters seemed a little high so I passed on those. I used to buy Toyota filters from the online sites because they were in the $4 range. Not sure where Nissan oil filters stack up and didn't find any chatter about it here on the forum. I know Honda are cheapo borderline Fram quality and more than the Toyota ones as well. I usually go with NAPA Gold filters if not OEM.

i only use OEM oil & air filters. i'm picky about that.
the last time i bought oil filters it was at my local Nissan dealer, who was willing to match the best internet price that i could find @ the time ($5.95 ea)

I'm picky if I know they're good. The Toyota OEM are nearly identical to the NAPA Gold, which is how I landed on them. I'd buy a case of the Toy filters for $4/each when ordering other things. $7/pop for the Nissan filters isn't a deal so I'll buy them elsewhere. Not all OEM filters are great so I won't accept that's the best value without some research. Honda filters are nearly identical to Fram when torn apart. Granted I'm not running extended OCI on my gas vehicles so it would probably be fine with the cheapest POS filter made....but NAPA Gold is built on par with the better OEM filters so that works for me.

Having trouble locating the correct front plate mount I need for my '06 Path.

courtesyparts website looks good/cheap, but I'm not sure what hardware I'm going to need with it.

For 2005 through 2007 models, you need the following:

License plate bracket: 96210-EA500 MSRP: $11.42
2-screw grommets: 62284-81F00 MSRP: $1.12 ea.
2-screws: 08340-5252A MSRP: $0.62 ea.

Oh, nice. Thanks man. I just moved to IL and found out it's the law to have front plate mounted too.
