1997 Nissan Pathfinder-Gauge Gauge 3/4 full but really empty

Postby vtordera » Thu Jul 15, 2010 1:23 am

Gas Gauge shows 3/4 full but really almost empty warning light turned on.

Mileage Trip odometer shows that it should be empty. Filled up the tank and sure enough it was thirsty and was almost empty. Gauge now shows full.

Surprised that empty light turned on. Thinking that gauge and empty warning light is from the same sending unit.

What can be causing this?

Thx, Virgil

Sounds like your gauge is going. It might have just got stuck, but if it happens again, that's the culprit. You wouldn't have gotten the light if it was your sender. Looks like you might try finding a junkyard in your area. Not sure if you would have to replace the whole cluster or if you can just do the fuel gauge.

The issue the 05 and up are having is the gauge is working but the sender in the tank isn't. I just replaced mine a month ago.
