Well hot damn, the gas cover DOES lock!

Postby Suliman » Wed Sep 23, 2009 7:33 pm

Since moving the Pathy oveseas, I've been contemplating a locking gas cap. But need not I say! Ok, I had no clue this was there until today...

I locked the doors, drove off, etc etc, got to the gas station (not in the best of areas) so I locked the doors and went to pop the lid open... what tha... damn, did someone f with my truck....

*lightbulb pops*

press unlock on the fob, poof, like magic I can open it. I wondered what that little mechanism did!

Yes, today I felt like an idiot. Hehe.

Nope, mine locks too (07 LE), when the doors are locked. I learned about it the same way Suliman did.

I know the cool little gas door lock feature is available on the LE versions. It saved me from buying a separate locking gas cap.
I don't know about the SE and others.
I wonder if I still have my old brochure around that compares the features of the different models? I'll have to look and maybe amend my post later.
EDIT- Nope. I did not see it with a quick look in the brochures. I must have read it in the owners manual.

I looked at the owner's manual for the 2006 model in the sticky at the top of the forum. The locking door is mentioned on page 3-10. I then took a look at my 2008 manual. Page 3-22 is basically the same as the 2006 manual, but there is no mention of the fuel door locking.

I did have my girlfriend check this since she had the truck at the time but no I need to check it too.

No mention of this being optional.
From the manual:

OPENING THE FUEL-FILLER LID
The fuel-filler lid automatically unlocks when all
doors are unlocked.
1. Unlock the fuel-filler lid using one of the
following operations.
c Unlock all doors with the keyfob.
c Unlock all doors with the key.
c Press the power door lock switch to the
unlock position.
2. Push the lid to open.
To lock, close the fuel-filler lid and lock the doors.
