I haven't noticed any differences in temperature with the fan in front of the cooler.
not sure what you meant by air bag ? my track Miata do not have air bag.

r u saying you don't see temp drop with the fan ? or with the fan off. there is no difference ?

I think he's asking if your Pathfinder has the "Airlift" air bags in the rear springs.

After I installed the fan and when it is off, there is no difference in transmission temperature. The airflow blockage is negligible.

grrrrrrrrr my transmission gauge project is driving me nuts!!! I got the fan and gauge in, and switch should be here today. I have been to 3 auto parts stores to pick up some electrical supplied and everybody is out of something I need. I couldnt wait to put the gauge in so I tried that this morning. The mounting bracket on the back needed to be altered in order to work......so of course I broke it while doing so. Now I must wait another 3 days for another mounting bracket to arrive from jegs....and as luck would have it I could only buy that in quantities of three! So yeah its nickel and diming me to death but hopefully by late this week I'll have it all in.....but not holding my breath.

sorry to hear all the bad luck, try to get some pix for us of the install, I am going to install a gauge soon and then determine if I need the fan

I didn't install trans temp gauge. I will just take u guy's words for it. I installed a fan. just towed my race car this weekend, 700 miles trip. ran the fan whenever it is hot outside, or going uphill.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Ok I feel better...had to scream!

I was gonna install the fan tonight and its freaking defective. It came as a puller fan, need to reverse polarity and blades to make a pusher. When I do so, for some reason the blades rub the casing. Makes no sense cause it looks identical either way its mounted. Gonna call tech support tomorrow and make sure im not missing anything. Im pretty darn close to sending everything back and saying screw it.

Hey Fossil,
Did you have any issue getting the sending unit in the pressure port? Mine will not thread in.

The threads on my sender were NPT (North American Pipe Thread). Its a tapered thread that get tighter as it screws in. It feels weird to tighten it up. Normal screws and bolts are straight threaded. When they get tight they don't screw in anymore... but the tapered thread will continue to screw in even after you feel the resistance. Make sure you use som high temperature thread sealent. Mine has been leak free and reliable for 3.5 years now.[/quote]

hmmm not sure what im doing. I thought I stripped it because it was tight then all of a sudden gave way. I backed it back out and it had metal in between the threads. I cleaned it up and test fitted back into the fitting that came with it and the threads are not messed up. And the threads on the trans are fine cause the old plug went back in fine.

The threads are probably buggered on the brass adaptor. Since brass is much softer than the transmission casing (aluminum?? or is it steel) you don't really risk stripping the trans housing.

Well thats what I thought too, but the gauge came with a 3/8 inch adapter and the 1/8 NPT fitting still screws into it.

My project, hope to be towing it soon

What I'll be towing soon...

Here's the car just after I started taking it apart and realizing how over my head I was (all stock 265 V8 )
Image
And here is the car about two months ago, on it's way home from the body shop/painter guy (2000 Corvette LS1/4L65E, Ford 9")

Car looked good from a distance originally but lots of small paint imperfections and poor body work underneath. Went from Jaguar Regency Red to Dupont Raging Ruby and GM white.

Will have to do the 7-pin harness swap, and add the trailer brake controller before I can tow the car, but not in a hurry since I don't have much money to put into it right now.
