Window Tint

Postby driftedoffroad » Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:23 pm

I am thinking about tinting my front windows but want the fronts to match the back factory tint. Anyone know what % the factory privacy glass is? I am thinking 20% or maybe 35%.

Sorry Kevster, I've gotta disagree with you. I've worked in and managed tint shops for years and had a number of my own car's two fronts matched, including the 08 Pathfinder. Factory tint is 15%, just slightly darker than 20%.

I'm looking to tint my front two as well. Is there much difference between 15 and 20%?

As mentioned above, factory tint on rear windows is somewhere in the 15%-20% range. The front door windows from the factory are 50%. If you put 35% on the front doors it will be real close to the rears. That being said..the front doors won't look as dark at certain angles/lighting because the front windshield lets so much light in. 20% over the factory tint would be really dark and probably won't match the rears unless you tint them as well. I run 5% on my Camaro and that's no fun at night. Looks good though.

I know on my 99 Jeep, I just took it to a respected tint shop and told them to match the rear. It turned out perfect. It looks great. I want the same on my pathfinder.
