Just traded off a 2011 Honda Pilot FWD for a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder Silver 2WD. Plan on doing some light towing, a 1,200 lbs tent trailer for now and later a 2,800 lbs Trailmanor trailer. Tried pulling the tent trailer with the Honda Pilot and that was not a fun experience and I have towed lots of travel trailers in the pass. Two main problems, the 3.6l engine just not enough power to get up hills without pushing the engine and being FWD the car was jerked around making a very un-smooth drive. Pulling the same tent trailer with the Pathfinder there was no power problem and the ride was smooth. Wife said she couldn't even tell I was towing the trailer. Or as my son said after driving the Pathfinder "The Honda drives like a fat whale". Only problem I have so far with the Pathfinder is keeping it from my son.
Make sure you check with your Nissan dealer to see if there are any open campaigns. Nissan recently announced a recall for 2WD 2011-2012 Pathfinders; the recall is for the front hub that was not made to hardness specifications. There is also a recall on the engine oil cooler bolts (the bolts that attach the cooler to the engine) on the 11-12 models, as well.

As everyone has said so far the new 2013 Pathfinder is a joke.You wont see this one above the tree line anywhere.What will Nissan have left for a guys

They haven't done anything to the Xterra...yet. I know a few that has an R51 and their tired of the rugged, rough ride, boxy looking with very bad MPG truck. They saw my vehicle and they were sold. Things change and people have to move on to get better things and that's why I purchased a new 2013 Pathfinder. Give this R52 a chance and you'll be amazed.

Congratulations on your 2013 Pathfinder. I think the issue is not that anyone thinks the 2013 is really a piece of junk, it is just that it is such a change from the R51 and its capabilities and they called it a Pathfinder. Some guys, on here are hardcore and the 2013 doesn't fit their needs. I doubt there would be any negative comments if it had a different name. I bought mine based on the boxy looks, towing capacity and off road abilities and I love mine. If I was looking for something different, at the time, I might have gone with the Mazda CX9. I have sat in the new 2013 and it is a nice vehicle and it will appeal to a much larger customer base than the R51. I also expect that there are a number of R51 owners that will make the switch, based on their wants and needs and the fact that their Pathfinders would never see a trail or gravel road. Were are not whiners, just like the R51 looks better and we can off road. Both have their target customer.
So now that you have a Pathfinder, get involved in the forum and post information, pictures, modifications and anything you would think your fellow pathfinder owners, R52 and older, would be interested in. It's a brand new design and most of us know very little about it.

We've had our 2013 for 3 months and love it. Sure, it's not an offroader by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I have already broken the chrome covered plastic molding on the bumper just driving in deep snow.
It's smoother, quieter, bigger, faster, and gets better mileage than our Volvo XC70 AWD wagon. I got 29.1mpg on a 15 mile freeway stretch averaging 62mph. It has all kinds of fun toys (like all around camera) that my wife actually enjoys. Prior to this unit, a car was just transportation.
We have an F250 4x4 for serious off road, and the XC70 for mild off road. The Pathfinder is great for what we needed.

I wouldn't introduce yourself here by making shitty comments about how people can't afford one. I bought my '07 brand new off the showroom floor with cash, but some also prefer not to assume the instant depreciation a new vehicle brings. Congrats on your new rig, I'm sure it's perfect for you. It doesn't seem like English is your first language so maybe your thoughts were muddled in translation.

Went to dealer to test drive 2013 pathfinder the other day and ended up buying a new 2012 LE model instead. I just had a hard time switching to new design after having my 2005 since day 1. It was hard leaving her sitting in the lot, but really enjoyed the new feel again and got a pretty good deal.
At the end of 2013 test drive i felt it was a smooth enough ride, but no longer the pathfinder that i had enjoyed the last 7 years. If I was in the market for a crossover/whatever ya call it, there is so much more competition in that category and I am just not sure this car stacks up against all those vehicles. I'm not bashing the 2013, but I feel they went too drastic with the change and have left Pathfinder loyalist scrambling to find 2012 models or going elsewhere. I hope everyone enjoys their 2013. It just wasn't for our family.

I always liked getting the last year of a model run just as the replacement model goes on sale. You can work a pretty good deal, usually, and by then all of the "new model bugs" have long been worked out and most of the problem areas have been addressed. My 2007 Hardbody and 2004 Toyota Tacoma were both great vehicles for me. My Hardbody was a 2WD SE/KC/AT that I got 200,000 miles out of before the fuel injector wire shorted against the head and cooked the main harness all the way up to the ignition switch. The only thing I ever did to it outside of maintenance and tune-up was a driveshaft support, leaf spring bushings, shocks, 3 set of front brakes (still had original rear brakes), and three set of tires. It cost me $16500 and didn't owe me a penny when I was done! My 4wd base Tacoma was 3 years old with only 12500 miles (garage kept) when I got her for only $13000. I put 90000 miles on her before I traded her in for $7500 towards my current, 06 Pathy LE. The Tacoma was even better. Outside of oil changes and tune ups, I replaced the tires once, and had a MIL for the evap system which I never bothered to fix before trading it in. I never even put brakes on it!
I agree with you on the last year of a model. They were begging me to get it off their lot. I feel I got a better than average deal so it made it hard to pass up. It was the last 2012 model within 250 miles of me as far as I could tell when shopping. I will stop hijacking this thread at this point. Enjoy your pathfinder Boys!
