All of a sudden no trailer light, is it a fuse??

Postby surffx » Thu Aug 08, 2024 6:15 am

2008 Pathfinder V8 LE with factory flat four trailer harness

All of a sudden there is now power going to the factory trailer harness at all. (tested it with a meter) I have used it many many times with out issue. I read somewhere there is a fuse but I am having trouble finding it. Is it in the panel next to the glove box? Or is it in the panel in the engine compartment? It does look like something is listed as "tow" in the engine compartment fuse panel but the layout is extremely confusing. Thank you for the quick help. I am supposed to two the boat 300+ miles this evening.

You can find a wiring diagram for the factory tow here on EXL-92:

The running lights have their own fuse #32 which is in the IPDM at the right rear of the engine box. You can find the IPDM layout here on page PCS-19:

Hey thanks for the quick replay and the diagrams. It was both the trail tail and the trail turn fuse. Replaced them both and now all is good. Whew. Couldn't figure out what in the world would blow both those fuses. Then it hit me. I feel so stupid. I had a different trailer hooked up recently and wanted to fix a broken hinge on the fold down tailgate. I welded a crack in it and it worked great. Only problem was I left the trailer harness connected and grounded the welder to the frame of the trailer!! STUPID!! I'm lucky I didn't fry all the wires in the harness. Thanks god the fuses did what they were supposed to do. Anyway, thanks for the reply.
