I don't have enough V time or $ to go cross-country again this year, but I'm still looking to have some fun this summer. I figure 5 days in the Pineys and maybe two or three at the shore will make for a good diversion. If your interested in joining-up for the whole Pine Barrens trip or just dropping-in for the day, this is what I'm thinking about:
- Wed: Head out early AM and drive to Chatsworth, NJ;
- Setup camp at Wading Pines campground, right outside the entrance to Wharton State Forest(1);
- Spend the rest of the day relaxing and socializing in camp;
- Thu: spend the day off-roading, stopping along the river for lunch. Mostly scenic drives, but maybe some light to moderate mud holes (optional), and maybe some Geo-Caching;
- Fri: Rent canoes at Micks Canoe Rentals and spend the day paddling;
- Sat: Another full day off-roading in the Pine Barrens;
- Sun: Pack-up and move to the shore for 2 or 3 days
Here's a few pictures from my previous trips to the Pineys:
