Nissan Battery Life

I replaced mine after a year and a half after I bought the PF. Then got a yellow-top optima with higher CCA just to make sure it would work

We'll see this winter, so far the summer is doing fine.

Mine is still going good after 3 years, 8 months here in Southern California.
But I will replace it after the first sign of weakness. I learned at an early age that they don't magically get better if you ignore them.
I’ll probably go with an Optima

2006 just replaced in July 09, stock battery was probably about four years old. I had one warning of weakness that I foolishly ignored about a week before it was dead.

Is our battery power gauge not trustworthy to know our battery strength and if we need to replace our battery?

Im at 3 years and 36K, and looks like im falling into the category with others about needing a new battery. But my gauge reads that my battery is above the center.

Whats up with Nissan and their batteries anyways?
I had a Maxima that needed a new battery around the 35K mark also.

Anyways, is our battery gauge not a good indicator of replacing our batteries?

That gauge isn't related to battery strength, that is related to how the output of the charging system. If that gauge goes down, you have a greater problem than the battery - it most likely means that you just lost your alternator.

My 2006 rolled off of the dealer lot 40 months ago and has 63,000 miles on it - still on the stock battery with no problems. I wouldn't be surprised if I needed a new one in less than a year, but no signs of any problems yet.

If anyone is having the same problem I've seen http://www.thenissanpath.com/viewtopic. ... highlight= that would be an extra drain on the battery that couls affect it's life span.

If you don't have LEDs you could still have the problem. The LEDs only make the problem noticable.

I haven't replaced mine (knock on wood) and it is still holding up a good charge. On my Honda Civic, I didn't replaced it for 8 yrs and there was nothing wrong with it. I replaced it for peace of mind.

You replaced it 4x? You might have a short circuit in the system.

Update: I went ahead and purchased a new one last week, big difference when cranking!! the originlal was weak after 4 years of use. I can put back in the garage the jumper cables, lol

That gauge should give a fair indication of battery condition. Of course, without numbers, it is impossible to know how low is low. Here is a quote from the owners' manual.

VOLTMETER
When the ignition key is turned to the ON position,
the voltmeter indicates the battery voltage.
When the engine is running, it indicates the generator
voltage.

I don't know exactly, but on my Honda Civic I didn't change the original battery until its 8th year.

My 05 SE Pathfinder went for a diagnostic check from the stealership and they said my Battery is almost done. That's 4yrs?

With the early end of life battery problems some are having it would be nice if someone else with a meter would check their interior lights. I can't be the only one with this problem.

Just replaced my original battery on my 05 yesterday. No sign of it getting weak, just was completely dead one day after work.
