Hella 500FF

Found a good deal at AutoZone for a pair of Hella 500FF, so I decided to pick it up, I didnt want to ruin my bumper so I put it on my grill just so If i did mess up a full assembly grill would only run 140.00.

Anyways tell me what you think.

Yeah, looks good. What kind of hardware was used to mount those lights to the grill?

How much more light do you notice now?

I just used the hardware it came with and bought some rubber washer for the outside and regular round washer for the back.

yes how much of a difference do they make for night driving. they do look good. i want to do that 90mm hella conversation but not sure if im really going to do

They shine farther than my hi beams and it lights up up everything in front and to the sides. I really like em, best 70.00 dollars i spent.

I did almost the same setup. I used a Grillcraft mesh grill that removes the center Nissan logo & mounted my Hellas behind the grill. They are direct wired into the high beams & are a fantastic addition. Now I can see at night on dark country roads.

I like your mod and have a couple of questions for you-
1)How did you wire them?
2)Have you been through an automatic car wash with these and /or do you think they would handle that fine?

1) I wired it so that it will only be able to turn on when normal headlight is on, I believe its against the law to have em on with high beam.
2) No I have not gone though the auto carwash with it, but by feeling how sturdy it is, I wouldn't even think twice about taking it to one.

Yes, there are laws dictating such and I believe it will vary some by state. May not be a huge help but I don't think anyone could really say a definite "it's ok" or "it's not ok" since this forum is viewed worldwide. If curious, everyone should check their state laws and abide by them as much as possible.

I have the same set up, but opted to install a bullbar to mount them to eliminate the shaking and vibration during driving. I agree that they work pretty well if aimed properly. I find that aiming them just past the cut-off the the low beams works best for me. If raised higher they will shoot pretty far. I'm contemplating rigging up a HID set up for these lights - that should make them much brighter. One thing that I would change is a Hella factory green lighted switch. Even if mounted in the switch blanks by the mirror and out of plain view it lights up so bright in the dark cabin that it is a bit distracting. Pilot sells the same swith with just a small LED dot that illuminates, making it it much easier on your eyes at night.

I just purchased some Hella 500FF as well, and I think I will install them through the grill as you did. I have been trying to figure out how to install them as I didn't want to mount them low due to parking issues (people bumping into my bumper), or drill into the bumper. Nice pictures. Will probably have to go with a larger washer for support.

You said you just spliced into the headlight wiring?
