Rear window hydrolic lift failures

Postby roborob » Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:59 pm

So, new to me 2006 Pathfinder. After one month i've got one really annoying problem.

The rear window hydrolic lifts (the ones that keep the window up when open) keep popping off at the top (where they connect to the window at a little metal ball). They are designed with a slider to attach easily but the slider are constantly sliding down into the open position causing the top of the lifters to pop off rendering the window useless.

Any help would be of great HELP!

They are relatively inexpensive...about $17 each.

I live in Canada,,, they will be about $90 each (LOL,,, no really, about $90 each).

I just don't see how new one's will fix the problem. The hyrolic's are fine, just the connection to the car. The little sliders keep popping off due to the angle of the ball joint - rotation while closing the window puts enough force on the joint to force it open. A new one will react the same way. Guess I have to see a stealership.

Thanks guys, gals, who ever.

Check the clips that "lock" the lifts onto the ball joint. Maybe the previous owner didn't install them correctly or the clips are bent.

^^^^^^

Or someone has accidentally broken that piece off by sliding something in through the rear window while it was open
