Real Time MPG

Postby WheatBread » Fri Sep 17, 2010 1:04 pm

Hey all, is there a way I can view real time MPG with my dash display, as opposed to the not much help average MPG that I can only figure out how to display right now? Oh yeah, it's an 05

Mine only gives average, too. At any time you can reset MPG and the (b) part of the trip odometer to give info on shorter distances. By the way, it updates its calculations every 20(???) seconds. Years ago I added a kit to a 98 Tahoe that would give instantaneous MPG, among other things, but had to be wired up under the hood. I miss it.

So far I have seen two products that just plug into the OBDII port with a little vehicle specific info to program into it. Both give lots of readouts that the on-board computer has available. Both units are found in use by the guys at http://www.cleanmpg.com/ :
UltraGauge for about $60 http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm
ScanGauge for about $160 http://www.scangauge.com/autozone.shtml

Same button, that you use for changing a-trip => b-trip => mpg (or L/100km) => average speed => driving time => a-trip =>...., just hold it for a few seconds

Of course it will, because the PF only has a single "average" MPG display.
