Need Advice on Brakes

my fault unfortunately, very sad story, just got my car back from impound since october 1st.

insurance will take care, but im thinking of changing the entire brake system.
anyone has personal experience with better stopping power than the stock?
or better pads than OEM?

my first set lasted 35K, second set 15k, im on my third set just reached 20k, and need replacement soon.
my driving hasnt changed at all, and im always using OEM, but i have a feeling Nissan is not installing the same stuff for me all the time.

any advise guys ? brakes/rotors/calipers/discs?

I dont have any advise for you but I must say that I am amazed you have had such problems with the oem brakes. I have a 120K on my '05 and I am still on the original brakes. I aint easy on them either... I pull a ski boat on a regular basis and have even been to the drag strip multiple times (not just to watch). Unless you drive in the mountains constantly, I cant see why your brakes wear out so quick.

I'm at 75k and pads still look brand new. My rotors are warped a bit, so going to get them turned on Monday, but otherwise my pads are good for a while.

When (if) I need new pads and rotors I'll be replacing with stock, since they've held up so well.

Sorry no idea bout brake pads cos im still on my OEs as well..But what happened with the car?? and why impound??crossing red light??

I just did mine on my '06 ... at about 38,000 miles , pads were done and rotors were warped ... Went with Centric premium rotors and Akebono PRO ACT pads, they do work better , but its not a huge improvement .... I wish Hawk built a HPS pad for these , I have had tons of luck with those , loved them on my '01 SC Frontier !!!

If your buying OE from the dealer , yea, you are not getting the same pads every time, OE suppliers change all the time ... I have never been happy with OE pads on anything ...And never replace with OE pads ( some customers ask for OE and when I cant convince them against it , I use OE and 90% of the time they are not happy with them !! )

As an OE replacement pad , we use the Akebono PRO ACT pads on just about everything and have had great luck with them !!

Make sure they are going to use all new OEM Nissan parts to fix your truck. Insurance companies always look for the cheapest way out and do not care about the quality of your repair.

nah i got agency repair on my contract. Dealership is fixing it.

Get EBC green stuff pads and sport slot rotors. They will shorten your stopping distance. Can't attest for how long they will last, since I traded it in 10 months later. Just be sure to follow the break in procedure and they should last a long time.

. I do not think an aftermarket one could do much worse. I noticed the one that they installed in my truck after my accident has a sticker on it that reads "made in tiwan". I am not sure if it is OEM or not.

Sounds like an after market radiator. That's probably the one after market part on our trucks I wouldn't mind using. A lot of the after market radiators have a lifetime warranty.

once warranty expires, i might just trade it in for a recent model and get warranty all over again.

let Nissan worry bout the radiators fuel senders and IPDM issues.
