98 pathfinder...check engine light is on. HELP!

Postby 98pathfinder » Fri Sep 02, 2011 7:10 pm

i bought a 98 manual pathfinder SE from an old deadhead this past december. first nissan and first SUV. i am loving this car. recently the check engine light came on. a friend ran the codes and it showed up as the knock sensor and something else. when i'm driving on the highway, the car/engine feels like its pulling back. also, the automatic windows don't work anymore (?). not sure if this is related to the check engine light or a different problem in itself. ANY help is appreciated. i'm a new mom and this car is my "baby mobile" so i want to make sure its safe and running great. plus, i love it.

I have a 97 my light came on it said its error my mass air or my 02 sensors. I hasn't had a knock sensor issue. I believe there are allot of people have the mass air mess up on them. I don't know if any of that will help you. The window issue would not come up with a check engine light.

the knock sensor code keeps showing up...i did a little research and it looks like its a bitch to replace it. i'm also having some electric issues where the windshield wipers randomly start moving on their own. LOL! with your issue - did you just replace the mass air and 02 sensors?

From my research the knock sensor code itself won't cause the CEL to come on, and is VERY common with these motors. And, like you stated, it's a pain to change so most people don't bother with it. Basically what I'm saying is don't lose too much sleep about that.

If you can have your friend rescan your truck and write down the codes, then post the codes up here, that would probably help you get some help.
