AEM intake on my V8...

Postby Billy T. » Wed Mar 12, 2008 9:11 am

Well, I needed to finish off an order to get an account set up with a distributor, so I went ahead and ordered an Intake for my Pathfinder. It is the Titan part, so I really wasn't even sure if it would fit, but I took the chance. The intake tube is just a tick too long, but for the most part, the whole thing went on pretty smoothly. I had to drill one hole, but everything else was butter.

For anyone that wants one, I can sell them modified for 350 shipped. We are eventually going to make our own, but I still need to source the MAF flange.

I'll get some pics up in a minute.

I had a moentary lapse of reason and put 87 in the tank to save myself 5 bucks. But this thing still feels like a beast with the intake. Should be loads of fun with 93 in it. Been too lazy to dyno it stock, so at this point, I will need to put the stock box back in to get before and after numbers. But like I said, it does feel real good, sounds mean, too.

Hi Billy, as you are working toward improving the intake flow do you have any thoughts as to why Nissan put the MAF sensor that distance from the engine rather than closer. Thanks.

Greybrick, sorry I can not answer your question, but my Pontiac G6 is the same way. The MAF is at least a foot and a half from the manifold. I guess it really doesn't matter though. Once the air gets to a certain point it has to go to the engine.

My theory would be that the air would tend to eddy and bottleneck the closer you got to the engine which might throw off the reading.

Any update on this? How did it perform? Who made the intake? Are you still selling them?
