Towing big with the Path

Trying to save some money...
This http://www.courtesyparts.com/relay-poll-p-305795.html States that its for 2006+ models so I'm assuming my 2005 doesn't need an additional relay?
And as for this harness http://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan-wir ... -9486.html Do I NEED it or can I cut the factory connector off from under the dash and just wire it directly to the controller wires with some butt-splices?
Instead of using the harness suggested here http://www.courtesyparts.com/receiver-h ... Path=6833& I'm going to attempt to cut the connector off a 7-way from a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that I have and use it, they all have universal wiring anyway so It should be easy to tap into the 4 Flat and splice into the 7-Way. I'll have to run additional wires I'm sure for battery(+), Electric Brake, and Backup Lamps
Am I right in thinking I do not have to buy any of the stuff from the original post if I just splice and run the needed wires?

We've decided for Labor Day weekend to rent a 26' Travel Trailer for a family camping trip (~5000lbs). We'll have to tow it about 200 miles each way. This thread has provided a ton of info about what we need to do to prep the Path for the trip
Ordered the brake controller and airlift kit today... Will check with the dealer about the 7-pin and relay tomorrow. With this info I'm thinking install will be a piece of cake

Ok, I gotta say I'm lost looking for the brake controller harness connector under the dash. The many instructions I have found so far say it's above the ebrake, but all I have taped up there is a green connecter that looks like it has a different shape. Where should I be looking? does anyone happen to have a pic of it?

Just finished installing everything.
The 7 pin connector isn't so bad except that I had to lower the spare to get the right angle on that grey connector (big hands
). The Airlift 1000 I expected to be more difficult because all I did was jack up the path about 2". I didn't really have any space to take off the wheels in my 1 car garage. In the end it all worked out
I took other's lead and installed the brake controller in the cubby. The bracket is held ing by velcro command strips to see how well it holds up. If they hold then it will allow me to easily remove the brake controller and bracket for when we are not using it.
The only thing not working at the moment is the +12V on the 7 pin. The dealer indicated that the relay was no longer needed, but I'm thinking it still is. The slot for the relay still has the empty socket

I found it purely by accident as I was moving cables around down there. There are two cables running along each other, one with a bit of foam attached to it that was covering up the connectory

Well, determined today that even though the system indicates that the relay is not for the 2012 Path it is still needed to get the +12 V at the 7 pin plug.
Also determined that the command strips did not last holding up the brake controller in the cubby... So I guess I'll be stopping by the store for some bolts
