I definitely WOULD NOT do an automatic car wash - I've held the pressure washer about 12in away on high pressure and didn't do a thing to them (at one of the "token" car washes - can't make the same claim with a store bought one). figured i'd give an update...
finally took it to a self wash place for it's first wash since doing the rims.
seemed to hold up just fine to the pressure washer at full blast when held 2-3 foot away.
also seemed to hold up just fine using the scrub brush on both the rocker panel and rims. now i didn't scrub -hard-, but i didn't just drag it across either.
i do have one little section on the rocker panel that's just starting to peel/tear a little, but i'm pretty sure it was started when i was using the razor blade to separate the plastidip from the masking tape when i made the line.
in the next week or so i might take the car through one of those 'touchless' (sprayers only) car washes to see how it does.

i just used regular car wash soap and water with a rag. for me the rocker panel dip is more of a "try before you eff-it-up with real paint" kind of thing than looking for it to last forever. but it seems to hold up really well when you use a bunch of coats.
the MOST important thing is on the first and second coats (of whatever you're doing) you should just barely put any on. just a quick spray. you'd almost think you didn't have any on. it should look lighter than it looks in my 1st coat pic (it really did look lighter in person).

Thanks, yeah i pulled all 4 off and coated them about 5 times.. it looks good I need to touch them up when the lug nuts are due to the lug wrench rubbing on the sides. other than that they look awesome. I think in the long run I might just go with powdercoating them. It seem like the plasti-dip will rub off pretty easily. I guess we will see over time.

yeah for the long run i am seriously thinking about powder coating. the nice thing about this plastidip is the "try before you buy" kind of deal, so if you didn't like the look you can just peel it off rather than spend another $$$ to replace/repaint/etc.
i have the same problem with the lug wrench. my plan was to get a piece of paper and roll it up and use that to cover the lug while i respray the well. i've found that adding/touching up to the spokes itself is easy with no masking needed. i'd found that on some of the spokes i didn't get a good enough coat so it looked....umm....like polkadotted a little?
as for the durability, it's not too bad. from what i can tell as long as you don't get some kind of rub or whatever right at the edge where the plasti starts, it will do just fine.
and no prob on the help. i've gotten quite a bit of use out of this board, so figure i'd give back

i only took what i saw here (and on the jeep boards) and took it a step further, so in reality i copied from others.
no sweat from me on doing the same if you like the way it looks. i mean you can either make yours look like mine, or keep it as is and look the same as the other thousands of pathfinders
