Massive Corrosion on Chassis

Hi Guys, I have a 2005 Pathfinder which i have owned for 6 month, love it to bits, always had Land Rovers but got fed up with the poor reliability. So bought a Pathfinder. Just been in for an MOT and i have been told that the car is pretty much a write off due to the massive corrosion on the Chassis. The MOT station have told me not to drive it. Totally gutted.
Its not just a bit of corrosion, there is massive parts missing huge holes, its like looking at a 30 year old chassis that been in the sea!.

Anyway, been in touch with Nissan and they have told me the Anti Perforation warranty does not cover the chassis. Only body panels. Would love to show you some photos but have no idea how to on this forum!

Has anyone had chassis problems with this age of Pathfinder and any advise on what i can do. Help i have no car!!!!

WOW!, that's terrible news
has your Pathfinder been subjected to salt water or road salt?
please post some pictures in the way "disallow" recommended

oh, and what's a MOT?

Ha Ha,

MOT is a test we have over here in the UK, every car has to have a MOT test each year to make sure its roadworthy.

The car has been used only on the road for the last 6 years so no salt water!.

Will try and get some photos.....

Photos show the truck from the underside Left hand rear with the rear axle removed and fuel tank out.

No i wish. it was a private seller. Annoyingly it looked ok when i bought it 6 months ago as the spare wheel was covering up the worst sections.

Man! So sorry to see this, there has to be a reason like it was submerged in freaking salt water for a year or two. Man, can't believe what i saw.

Any pics of the Path itself?

So do you think Nissan are right to say its not covered under warranty as its not a body panel?

Wow. If you were located here in North America, I'd wager you ended up with one of the many thousand hurricane ravaged vehicles. It looks like yours has been sitting in pretty deep water for more than just a few days. That sucks.

manufacturers usually determine warranty requests such as these as being either the result of a factory defect, or some type of neglect, abuse, or damage
in this case, your corrosion issue would probably be considered "environmental damage"
what kind of shape are the body panels, fenders, and the sheet metal beneath the hood in?
if the frame is the only component affected by the corrosion, and there is no evidence of similar corrosion elsewhere, then the frame itself may be considered defective
if parts other than the frame are affected, then the damage would almost certainly be considered environmental
