It's not just a matter of ECM tuning, but the ability of the ECM to communicate will all of the other control units, including the instrument cluster and transmission. CAN communication adds a whole other headache to deal with than the typical engine/harness/ECM swap. As far as the engine, both are in the VK-series engine family and are of the same displacement, so the bottom end should be similar. The big difference will be in the cylinder heads, valvetrain and intake, along with the obvious wiring harness, ecm, emission controls and devices and I would imagine the fuel pumps are probably different, as well. While I can appreciate the "something different" aspect, it's an awful lot of work and expense just to add the "different factor" and a 110 HP to a Pathfinder. It would likely be cheaper to just get an Infiniti with the VK56VD already in it. Of course, if you have that much of a desire along with the unlimited income and time to do such a swap, go for it!
