Hi,
The body shop my pathfinder was at told me my truck is not reversing.
I have never had a problem with the tranny before so is there a way i can check if they might have swapped my tranny and gave me a junk one?
I just drove it to the dealer and they told me i need a transmission.
Is there a matching serial number on the motor and tranny?
BTW it was hit in the front and towed. I know about the radiator oil cooler leak etc. Geico will not pay for the tranny since I can't prove it was damaged from the accident.
I will appreciate any input

It would be an awful lot of work for a body shop to go through just to take your transmission out and swap it with another, defective trans. If the trans was fine before the accident and the body shop doing the repairs stated that they discovered the trans wasn't working correctly, it should be covered under your insurance. If they don't want to cover the repair, you may want to consult with your attorney.

was the truck towed from the front or on a flat bed. if they towed it from he front. the tow ruck driver probably burned up the trans since the drive shaft was spinning the rear diff while in tow.

Transmission damage to your vehicle-in-tow
When towing a rear axle driven front engine vehicle, the drive shaft must be disconnected to prevent transmission damage. Simply placing the transmission in neutral is not sufficient and will not prevent damage due to a lack of internal lubrication. You must disconnect the drive shaft at the rear axle and tie or wire it up. The universal joint bearing caps must be taped on to prevent loss of the bearings. If you choose to remove the drive shaft entirely, it may be necessary to cap the transmission tail shaft to prevent fluid loss and possible future damage. Consult your vehicle owner's manual
