I'm thinking of doing the bypass and maybe next spring installing an atf cooler. Will the existing feed line to the radiator make it over to the IN on the trans cooler? What should I buy to close off the IN/Out on the radiator? I am a mechanical guy and I have tools but I am a little unsure of doing this myself. Anybody on L.I. that can lend a hand, I can pay you in beer and pizza???

on page 8, lower middle, see bellwilliams' diagram & instructions for the by-pass
it's really easy, take about 1 hour, no additional parts or materials necessary, and a few simple hand tools
there are other methods, but all amount to the same thing
BTW: did you read the warranty extension coverage on "Nissanassist"?
you are probably still covered, if you choose to let it get to that point
personally, though both of my trucks are still covered, i choose the by-pass over a trip the the dealer, free or otherwise...........

You're probably right, I will take care of it myself. I did read the info at Nissanassit and no I will not let it get to that point!

Does anyone know if the radiator problem has been fixed yet? The one on my 06PF just failed and I had it replaced with the Nissan radiator.

I did the bypass early on so there was no worry about my tranny. This radiator did not fail where the trans cooler/heater? is located in the bottom. The upper part of the tank developed a crack/leak.

I asked they service manager and they said it (problem) was fixed but you only get 1year parts n labor trans covered as well in that time. I just left mine bypassed for peace of mind until I hear a definitive answer from Nissan that its corrected.

I put in a b&m trans cooler and plugged the factory radiator exchanger. Seriously took 40 min. I know this cuz I started it 45 min before a fantasy football draft on yahoo. 10mm socket and drill attachment, remove skid plate and bumper cover, plug in a couple hoses and it's done

What size B&M cooler did you use?

2008 Nissan Pathfinder. 113,000 miles. Obviously has leaking- radiator coolant is thick and milky. The transmission shudders from 3rd to 4th gear more often than not. Just started in the last few months. Probably drove 5k miles or more in this condition.

Is it too late to do the bypass, flush all fluids and replace?

unfortunately, probably

Just did the trans/radiator bypass on my 2010. It was very simple on the 2010. Would have been a bit easier if I had a lift, but still easy enough laying on the ground in the back yard. All that is needed is about 2 1/2 - 3 feet of 5/16 transmission hose, 2 5/16 vacuum caps, and 4 small clamps. I should have taken some pictures, but wasn't thinking about it at the time.

I see the extended warranty only goes up to 2010. Are the 2011 and 2012 Pathfinders not affected?

I don't think anyone is really quite sure.
For a while, it seemed that only the 05-06 models were affected.
Now we know better.

The problem is "supposed" to be limited to the 2005 through 2010 models.
