The most reliable way to find TDC is the marks on the timing chain.

Did you have any luck with the leak down tester and the borescope?

The latest is I have a dead motor. Did a leak down test. Had no air flow out the exhaust or intake but lots of air thru the crank case breather. Got a bore scope and looked inside the cylinders. #1 has deep scratches in the cylinder wall. Cat on right back rattles like marbles in a tin can.Local shop that specialists in nissans wants $6500 to install a reman motor. Dealer wants $9700 for same install. Dealer will give me $1200 towards towards the purchase of a new car. Unfortunately I don't have the talent to install a used motor, it looks like the car will be sent to wholesale.
Looks like the first and last nissan I will buy
